OOPS! Why no images appear in Outlook
Microsoft has come up with some great products over the years but every now and then they create a feature which can leave you wondering about its real benefits.
The new Outlook 2003 is a good example. In a bid to get around the spammers, particularly those involved in pornography, Microsoft has established a default setting in Outlook 2003 which rules out the downloading of images from the internet. What this means is a whole lot what you can see to the right. Just a nice red X where the picture should be.
Unfortunately it didn't stop the spammers who found an easy way around the problem but it has left a lot of people wondering, "what do I do if I want my email newsletters to look the way they used to?"
The answer is simple.
To make your email images appear you need to approve it by adding the senders email address to your recipients address book. Approving email senders in this way means that the images will be displayed but approving it in your recipients address book will not change the default setting in Outlook 2003 itself.
The advantage of this is that it preserves the protection provided by the default feature. You will still receive other emails that don't display images unless you confirm them as approved by adding them to your address book as well.
