The Lines Company (TLC) manages the power line network in the North Island’s King Country region (a network area covering 13,700 km2 - the largest network area in New Zealand which doesn’t have a major urban centre), with its Head Office based in Te Kuiti. TLC also runs significant electrical contracting businesses as well as a number of other related subsidiaries.
Dynamics NAV 5.0 was implemented by a team of CAD Advanced Solutions consultants in 2008 after TLC had performed an extensive RFP selection process. Significant aspects of the Dynamics NAV implementation include:
-
Extensive integration with TLC's customer billing and customer service application (Gentrack), including customer masterfiles, bank statement import and reconciliation and two-way integration of invoicing and other transactions
-
Implementation of CAD Advanced Solutions' "Advanced Job Management" addon solution, featuring significantly enhanced job costing functionality
-
Integration of Dynamics NAV job costing with the TLC payroll application to provide real-time costing information on jobs and eliminate double entry of timesheet-based data
-
Use of SQL Reporting Services to deliver key management reports to line managers
-
Automated bank reconciliation facilities to handle the processing of high volumes of bank transactions
-
Use of "Advanced Job Management" to capture costs of Assets Under Construction / Capital Work in Progress, and the incremental capitalisation of those costs into Fixed Assets as work is completed
-
Multi-dimensional reporting across all Companies and Divisions within the TLC Group, including full consolidation of all group entities
