The company operates in excess of 110 stores, with 25 stores in Australia. Hallenstein Glasson Holdings Limited was formed in 1985 on the merger of Hallensteins - an iconic menswear retailer first established in 1873, and Glassons – a fast fashion retailer founded in the early 1900’s.
Hallenstein Glasson is recognised as New Zealand’s leading specialty retailer, and is now making an entry into the Australian market with its Glassons brand.
BUSINESS SITUATION
Hallenstein Glasson have replaced their legacy CBA Accounting Software with Microsoft Dynamics NAV with the project commencing live operation in November 2009. The project involved the close integration of Microsoft Dynamics NAV with their existing Retail Management system Management 2000.SOLUTIONS
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Business Essentials version was implemented in conjunction with the Microsoft registered NAV add on “Acumen for SME” to handle all business accounting/financial processes. In addition custom development was created to integrate NAV to the existing retail management system Management 2000. Some key system features offered are:
· Financial systems including General Ledger, Cash Management, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
· Automated importation and processing of retail system (Management 2000) POS transactions.
· Multiple companies with consolidated financial reporting and support for additional reporting currency at general ledger level.
· Fixed asset module including multiple fixed asset books and support for constructed assets.
· Intercompany transactions support.
· Audit trail supporting drill down to imported POS transactions from General Ledger.
BENEFITS
Key benefits of the integrated Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Management 2000 system are:
· Automated periodic importing of full transactional POS data and posting of this to the Accounting System. This process removes the need for posting of manual journals to record this information and also eliminates numerous month end journals.
· Automated bank reconciliations including statement importation plus automated coding and application of deposits to cash clearing accounts by payment method.
· Online web based SQL reports with drill down capabilities have been provided to store managers to review store banking and variance summaries.
· Flexible financial reporting including store profit and loss, multiple company, additional reporting currencies and consolidated results being available on screen with drill down capabilities and/or as printed reports.
· Fixed Asset Management including store fit out and constructed assets with quick processes to capitalise assets on project completion.
· Audit trail and drill down capabilities from financial results to underlying POS transactions have highlighted a number of transactions that require management attention.
